Snow Day!

Snow Day!

Well, now that it has been in the 70s for several days and we are well into spring here in North Carolina—seems like the fitting time to reminisce on the gorgeous weekend of snow we had back in January.

Ara and I hadn’t seen snow fall since our time in Germany, the last time being January or February of 2019. We have some adorable pictures of Nora in a tiny snowsuit when she’s barely a month old. I truly love a good snowfall, there’s nothing better than waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee while watching it fall magically from the sky. Then, after a proper breakfast—suit up in warm clothes and head out to play in the piles of snow! Nora had yet to experience snow, only from what books or tv shows have described it. I had been looking at the forecast and saw snow was likely so I made sure to get some proper snow pants for Nora in case it snowed.

That Friday evening, the snow had started to fall but it was still a bit wet. By the time Ara and I were headed to bed, a thin white layer was forming on the ground. I couldn’t wait to wake up in the morning and see what was in store for us. We woke up and discovered quite a large amount of snow—probably about five inches. Eastern North Carolina doesn’t tend to get very much snow—only once a year if lucky. I took Nora downstairs and had her open the front door—she exclaimed, “SNOW!!!”

We had a quick breakfast before we all suited up and got ready to head out in the snow. All three of us had a great time playing in the snow, building a snowman, sledding with our neighbors and Nora’s favorite—eating the snow. We played in the snow three different times on Saturday—it’s safe to say she was hooked on the snow.
