Willamette Valley

Willamette Valley

Our friend Drew (Ara’s friend from his hometown) called us up the week before New Year’s and asked if we had any plans. We didn’t, and he suggested we all do some wine tasting in the Pacific Northwest and we were happy to jump on the wagon and oblige!

Drew hadn’t ever been to Oregon before and the most logical decision to us was suggesting wine tasting in Willamette Valley. We picked him up from the Portland airport, snagged a tasty lunch in downtown Portland at the Pine Street Market and were off to Willamette Valley!

This was Ara and I's second visit to the Willamette Valley area and we were itching to go back. During our first visit, a couple years ago to celebrate my birthday, we stayed at The Allison Inn Resort & Spa. This place is amazing and we couldn't wait to head back--they have an amazing property that includes a delicious restaurant and an a great spa! The night stays are a little steep but well worth it if you are celebrating something fun and are in need of some great rejuvenation. The spa services are great but you don't even need to book one to enjoy all the features of the spa there, including the steam room and sauna!

Wine Tasting stops:
J. Christopher - our visit was by appointment but they told us by summer they will have a tasting room open to the public
Bergstrom - no appointment needed, open to public for tasting
Chehalem Winery - tasting room shop open to public
Ponzi Vineyards - no appointment needed, open to public for tasting
Evening Land Vineyards - tasting room shop open to public

Favorite wine tasted on trip:
J. Christopher Pinot Noirs - all of their Pinot Noirs are fantastic.
Chehalem Vertliner
Cameron Pinot Noir – Ara and I had a bottle with NYE dinner (while Drew did the wine pairing with the menu.) Smooth and delicious. Best wine tasted on the trip!
